1. A little bit about yourself :)
Hey everyone! I’m Aleksandra Radovanović, a Community Assistant at Nova Iskra. I am currently a final-year student at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, majoring in Telecommunications Traffic and Networks, and the end of my bachelor's studies is finally in sight!
Alongside a very technical faculty and a future engineering degree, I am an artist at heart—specifically a singer—so I spend every Tuesday and Friday at AKUD "Branko Krsmanović." My student days have also been enriched by my involvement in the student organization BEST Belgrade, where I’ve gained plenty of new skills and polished the ones I already had.
I am originally from Prokuplje, but I’ve been living in Belgrade for 10 years now. Every day, I get to know the city a bit more and I truly enjoy the fact that there is always a new place to discover, new content to explore, and new people to meet. Meanwhile, Prokuplje holds my family, the warmth of home, tenderness, and security.
Fun fact: My name is Aleksandra, but everyone knows me as Ana.
2. What inspired you to become a Community Assistant, and how has it enriched your professional career?
I actually found out about Iskra a couple of years ago through my student organization and fell in love with the space first. A mix of lovely moments and circumstances eventually prompted me to take this step, but what truly won me over was the atmosphere and energy I felt right from the start—and that’s what still motivates me today.
I don’t think I’m even fully aware yet of all the benefits this role has brought and continues to bring into my daily life. However, networking, great organizational skills, even more flexibility, and a perspective on work that keeps me from doing things blindly by the book—pushing me instead to introduce changes, try something different, and think openly and broadly—are definitely some of the highly valuable things I’ve gained here at Iskra.
3. What is the best part of being a Community Assistant, and what motivates you every day?
The best part of the job is that over time, I’ve come to experience Iskra as my home and the people as a truly high-quality community. That completely changes how the job feels, naturally inspiring even greater effort and commitment to getting tasks done better, keeping everyone happy, and making them look forward to coming back.
The absolute best part of this story and my daily motivation are definitely the people, along with the fact that this is a highly healthy and pleasant environment for someone just starting out on their journey.
4. Could you share a special moment that shows just how unique Iskra's community is?
Come over for a cup of coffee at Nova Iskra, because I could talk to you about this for a long, loooong time. :)
